Tantallon Victoria 2 Firhill United 3

Subs: Cairney (Thomson), Morrison (Devlin)

Goals: Devlin. D. Bonacorrsi

A game in which… It would be fair to say that for long periods of the game Tantallon dominated the game experimenting with a 3-5-2 formation and taking the game to their first division opposition. Devlin opened the scoring with a textbook back post header from a corner while Firhill scored two on the break. From the second of these there was an almost immediate reply as Moses created the opportunity for Davie Bonaccorsi to fire home the second half equaliser. Chances came and went but Firhill walked away with all three points when from a throw what was probably a cross found it’s way into the back of the net. The home side were disappointed with the goals we lost but going forward the team looked sharp at times and did play some nice football.

Moment to Savour… Bonaccorsi’s goal resulted from some very good football and came right off the back of having conceded. The team showed character.

Head in hands moment… Firhill’s winner was very lucky but came off the back of a couple of Tantallon mistakes. We’d looked good for at least a point.

Huntly’s Heros… Moses, Keys and Bonaccorsi were praised by the opposition while a strong debut for Thomson and another all action performance from Devlin were both stand outs.

On the sidelines… Wednesday’s game was fantastic entertainment without a bad challenge or crossed word between the two teams. Firhill are another great bunch of guys from the Strathclyde Saaturday Morning League. We¬†thoroughly enjoyed the match and wish them well for the season.
